Position Title:  Regional Director, Asia

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Regional Director provides vision and strategic leadership in the development and expansion of Ipas’s regional program and partnerships in Asia.  The Regional Director is responsible to  manage and coordinate the regional program and budget, in accordance with the Management Cycle, and ensure that results are planned and achieved consistent with organizational priorities. The Regional Director works closely with Country Directors and technical units to assess opportunities and provides guidance to design proposals that meet Ipas country and donor interests and oversees the reporting of results. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

 

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND PROJECT DEVELOPMENT: Provides leadership and creativity in planning of regional and country strategies; assesses opportunities, develops  special initiatives and strategic partnerships, obtaining inputs from team members, regional colleagues and technical team members. Contributes to organizational strategic planning and development of geographical priorities within the Asia region.

 

MANAGEMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION: Responsible for managing the regional program, including development and monitoring of budgets and annual workplans in accordance with the Management Cycle. Ensures that regional and country objectives are met, consistent with organizational priorities, technical standards, and that desired results are achieved cost effectively. Supports country teams in negotiating and coordinating with technical units for relevant scopes.   

 

SUPERVISION. Provides guidance and supervision to support Asia team effectiveness, encouraging teamwork and knowledge sharing between and within country and regional teams to achieve desired results. Serves as mentor to Asia team leaders. Ensures that appropriate human resources are available to meet regional and country objectives.

 

FUNDRAISING: With Country Directors, identifies funding opportunities with all types of donors ( multi-lateral, bi-lateral, private donors). Provides guidance in developing proposals which meet Ipas country and donor interests, in collaboration with country team and technical units; and responsible for overseeing reporting to donors.

 

REPRESENTATION:  Builds strategic partnerships with international NGOs in the region and works with regional and country teams to advocate for policies and programs that maximize impact to further the mission of Ipas and women’s reproductive health and rights. Represents Ipas at national, regional and international conferences and events.

 

CORE REQUIREMENTS

·         Master’s degree in a relevant field, specifically management or public health;

·         10 + years progressively responsible management experience including experience in reproductive health;

·         Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills;

·         Excellent project planning, budgeting and proposal development skills;

·         Proven supervisory, negotiating, team building and mentoring skills;

·         Crosscultural skills required; prefer familiarity in at least one Asian languague  

·         Excellent interpersonal,verbal and written communications skills;

·         Excellent computer experience including familiarty with current collaborative technologies to manage geographically dispersed teams;

·         International experience working and living in Asia

·         Excellent representational ability.

·         Ability to travel internationally approximately 30%
